Panama vs Tunisia FIFA World Cup 2018 – Lineups, Predictions & Stats Preview 28 June 2018

Panama and Tunisia are mathematically out of the FIFA World Cup 2018 and will play their final match at Mordovia Arena on 28th June. Both teams have not secured a point in the tournament and will be looking to bow down in style.

Panama Probable Lineups and Stats

Jaime Penedo has been a regular goalkeeper for Panama and is expected to be in the line-up. Their captain Roman Torres will be in the central defence alongside Fidel Escobar. Eric Davis and Michael Murillo will be on the left back and right back respectively. Panama has been playing with five midfielders and will have Anibal Godoy, Gabriel Gomez, and Cooper in the middle. Edgar Barcenas and Jose Rodriguez will be alternating in the two wings. Their frontline of a 4-5-1 formation will be led by Blas Perez once again who is yet to find the net in this tournament.

Panama might want to build on the fact that they had a goal against tough England and the 41% possession they had. It may be sad that they are going out of the tournament at this stage, but they will be happy it happened for the first time in their history. They will also try to avoid conceding as many goals as they did against England.

Tunisia Probable Lineups and Stats

Ben Mustapha conceded five goals in the previous game but is still expected that he will be in goal for Tunisia. Dylan Bronn will start on the right back while Ali Maaloul will be on the left side of the defence. Tunisia will retain the centre back duo of Yassine Meriah and Ben Youssef. Their 4-3-3 formation means that they will start Ferjani Sassi, Ellyes Skhiri, and Saif-Eddine Khaoui will be in the midfield. Their attacking trio will remain as Anice Badri, Fakhreddine, and Khazri who scored a goal against Belgium.

Tunisia still has some confidence having scored two goals against Belgium who are among the tournament’s favourites. They also performed well in their opening game with England struggling to find a winner in the last minutes of the game.

Panama v Tunisia – Head to Head

Panama has never played against Tunisia before. Panama had also never qualified for a FIFA World Cup previously. This year was a dream come true for the nation, and sadly they are going out very early. Tunisia first qualified for the World Cup in 1978. Tunisia became the first African team to win a match in the World Cup, beating Mexico 3–1 with goals from Kaabil, Ghomeshi, and Douieb. Since that time, they have never gone past the group stage.

Expert Tip

These two teams have nothing to compete for, except for their honour and dignity. After receiving two defeats from England and Belgium they have no chance to progress to the Round of 16. We expect a draw between these two teams because they lack attacking qualities, perhaps at the moment, they are the weakest teams who qualified for the World Cup 2018.
